  1. I wonder whether there is any possibility of arranging for Paul Elliot Russell to speak at the festival. He is a professor at Vassar College and the author of several novels that I have recently read: “Immaculate Blue”, “Boys of Life” and “Salt Point” (which is on my reading list), among others. I am currently reading “The Unreal Life of Sergey Nabakov”. I finf his work to be extremely compelling.

    Thanks,

  2. Definitely going to come out a help support when I can!!! Super excited now that I know the dates!!! Helped do this with family when I was just a kid!!! LOL can’t wait to tell my Mom I’m getting back into the swing of things.

    • Hi Maurice, thanks for reaching out. Currently for this volunteer night we are at capacity but you are welcome to sign up for the other upcoming volunteer nights.

  4. Odd that the senior members in the picture were not identified. I know three of the older men and know they are not closeted. The man on the right is also a friend of the group.

  6. Hi,

I hope this email finds you well.

In the light of what is happening in the world of abuse and oppression against the LGBTQ in China, Lebanon, Russia and recently Chechnya to mention the few, I thought it was time I tackled this nightmare and helped the world open their eyes. I myself a great supporter of the community and have many gay friends with whom I always discuss the community in general and current issues in specific.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Tami and I am an author and a Civil Rights Advocate( currently working with SAN) and one of my books discusses at length a love story between two South Asian men.

The book “Ocean in a Drop” has one major theme: freedom. The world is mesmerized and hypnotized by the media of only bad news. I believe my book does otherwise: it shares the story of children who want to break free from an oppressive and abusive culture; however, one of those children is gay. This character depicts what really goes on in a discrete gay man’s life: the struggle, the pain, and the sacrifices- a love story of two teenagers.

Why would this book have an impact? When the reader picks up my book, they are thinking of one theme: Freedom. As the plot lays out the series of events, it vaguely introduces the love story. It does not matter of whether they are with or against the gay community, the chapter is a major part of the plot. As the story develops, the reader has no option but to continue reading the extended details of this love story, forcing them to live up close and personal the battle and the pain that no one parent would wish for their children.

I would love to organize a book talk session at any of your venues. I think the world needs more literature and not just media to help unveil the truth about the LGBTQ communities in the third world countries.

Please let me know what you think, and should you need further details, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly on my phone number or email.

    Warm Regards,

    • Hello Kodiak, the Reeves Building which houses The DC Center is wheelchair accessible ,the main doors will open when you push the button, when you get in the building tho you would need someone to open the door to suite #105 . We have staff available that can open the door.

    • Hey Lloyd,

It really depends on their situation, and there are a lot of variables to take into consideration. What state do they currently reside in and do they have a valid drivers license? Are they a Veteran, or on disability? Can they afford to rent a room and if so what is their budget? Do they qualify for Emergency Rental Assistance? So …… the best thing to do is to call the DC Center and have them talk to one our two amazing social workers and we can go from there!
