Volunteer Background Checks

Volunteers at the DC Center are commonly trusted to work directly with our clients, and may handle DC Center resources (including money or donated goods). For the protection of those that access services at the DC Center, some volunteer positions require criminal background checks. All information in this application, and any acquired through the background check, remains confidential and is used only for screening purposes.

Backgound checks cost approximately $20 and volunteers are asked to pay for their own background check. If you cannot afford to pay for your own background check please contact volunteer@thedccenter.org.

To complete your background check, please download and return the background check release form; then make your $20 background check donation online or in person.

We are currently in the process of phasing in background checks. Background checks are required for all new Front Desk Volunteers and SAGE Metro DC Friendly Visitor Volunteers.

Help us Keep DC Safer! Join the HIV Working Group every Tuesday Night at Motley Bar for Packing Parties. Volunteers assemble safer sex kits and enjoy great drink specials.
