A Zoom event by The DC Center for the LGBT Community and the DC Department on Aging and Community Living (DACL)
Please join us on Saturday, April 17th at 3pm ET for a special event brought to you by The DC Center’s seniors program (Center Aging) and DACL. Brett Parson (law enforcement consultant and Reserve DC police officer) and Officer Desirée Walker (current member of MPD’s LGBT Liaison Unit) will join us in discussion about their careers in Law Enforcement, their work in the LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities, contemporary issues involving Law Enforcement (Implicit Bias, Use of Force, Defund the Police), and the recent attacks on the U.S. Capitol as well as ongoing threats. MPD Officer Desirée Walker
As a current member of the LGBT Liaison Unit, Desirée likes to keep the community informed and let them know the Unit is available to answer any questions or concerns. During her career, she has worked in Narcotics and Special Investigations, Nightlife, LGBTQ+, and more recently she was on the Inauguration Planning Committee for the 2021 Inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.
