We Got This: Black Writers on Imagination, Joy and Liberation
OutWrite LGBTQ Literary Festival is pleased to announce submissions are now open for a special issue of our annual literary journal — We Got This: Black Writers on Imagination, Joy and Liberation. The issue centers interconnected themes of Black imagination, Black joy, and Black liberation. As we work to create a world where Black people not only survive, but thrive, we must nurture our imaginations and foster joy along the way.
We want works that are celebratory, works that make us dream, works that show us what freedom is. Write about the art that soothes your spirit. Write about a moment you laughed so hard your belly shook. Write to us about a world without prisons, jails, and detention centers. We look forward to reading your work!

Compensation:
- $15 for reprints plus a contributor copy (pdf)
- $25 for new poems and prose under 1,000 words plus a contributor copy (pdf)
- $50 for new poems and prose over 1,000 words plus a contributor copy (pdf)
10 Year Anniversary Journal
OutWrite Literary Festival is pleased to announce submissions are now open for the 10 year anniversary edition of our festival journal. Celebrating ten years of OutWrite, the journal will highlight work from OutWrite contributors past and present.
If you have attended OutWrite in the past, read at one of our events, or been part of the team that helps make OutWrite possible, we invite you to submit your work for this special issue. We are accepting submissions in the following categories: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. We also welcome you to share photos from the past ten years with us at outwritedc@gmail.com. We look forward to reading your work!
