#OutWrite2020 Festival Hub

Welcome to the Festival Hub for #OutWrite2020!

OutWrite is DC’s annual festival celebrating LGBTQ literature.  2020 is our ten year anniversary, and we are delighted to share that with you.

Please find our Code of Conduct here.

You’ll be able to watch each event on our main stage here as well as the DC Center’s YouTube channel.  Please refresh the page if the stream isn’t working (it gets changed for each event).

OutWrite’s schedule can be found here. Please note that three events presently have ASL interpreters and are noted on the schedule. We are looking into Spanish interpreters, but didn’t start that process until much too late, so unfortunately we might not be able to offer Spanish interpretation.

We are using Discord to chat throughout the festival. You can sign up for Discord here. Join us in the #main-stage room in the Discord, where folks can talk about the panel and pose questions for the moderator.

We’ve already been lucky enough to begin the celebration with our announcement of the 2020 OutWrite Chapbook Competition, chosen by writers Tyrese Coleman, Faylita Hicks and Rivers Solomon.  You can read more about the winners here.

One of the highlights of every OutWrite in the past has been wandering the exhibitor hall and connecting one on one with our exhibitors.  While this is a challenge in a remote setting, we’re still delighted to share with you some opportunities for you to connect to the publishers, vendors and creatives that are part of our online exhibitor hall. Please check out the wonderful creatives in our virtual Exhibitor Hall here.

We are also open to submissions July 25 to August 25 for our two Festival Journals:

If you’d like to learn more about OutWrite’s monthly Queer Book Club, you see the next two months’ schedule here.

The new issue of MetroWeekly featured an interview with OutWrite volunteers, and also included work from 14 of our writers.
