David is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Kalorama Wealth Strategies, LLC, a fee-only investment advisory and financial planning firm focused on the needs of members and allies of the DC Metro area gay and lesbian community.
With more than 15 years experience in the financial services industry, David is uniquely qualified to advise individuals regarding their investments and financial planning matters. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP)TM professional and a member of the Financial Planning Association and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder, with membership in the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Washington, D.C.
Since 1999, David has been an adjunct professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate in the Kogod School of Business Administration at the American University. Teaching assignments have included an under-graduate personal finance course, as well as graduate and under-graduate courses in real estate principles and investments.
David frequently volunteers for Metro DC GLBT non-profit organizations through Burgundy Crescent Volunteers, including One In Ten, Gay Men?s Chorus, Food and Friends, Mautner Project, Equality Maryland, and HRC. He also helps The DC Center?s Elder Think Tank with its GLBT Financial Education Series including retirement planning, insurance, real estate, and estate planning.
Mark Chalfant has been improvising his life for 13 years. Since helping refound Washington Improv Theater in 1997, he has spearheaded the group?s evolution into DC?s hottest hotbed of spontaneous creativity. Mark has served as the company?s artistic|executive director since 2003 and as a lead instructor in the company?s training program since its inception. In workshops and lectures, Mark has shared ideas and skills from improvisation with organizations ranging from AOL and Geico to The American Red Cross and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Colleen Dermody is a strategic communicator, a marketing solutions counselor and a social marketing expert. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Communication and a certification from the Search Engine Academy for search engine optimization strategy. Dermody has developed and implemented highly successful research, marketing and media initiatives for a long and varied list of corporate, non-profit and government clients including Aetna, the Michael D. Palm Center, Mautner Project, the National Lesbian Health Organization, the District of Columbia Department of Health, the New York LGBT Community Center, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, GlaxoSmithKline, Sunrise Senior Living, DC Tobacco Free Families campaign, and a host of others. Additionally, she has taught professional writing and management at the Master’s level for American and Central Michigan Universities.
Her 25 years of marketing and public relations experience includes serving as Vice President at Witeck-Combs Communications the nation’s premier LGBT marketing communications firm, and as Communications Director for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, one of the highest profile health and nutrition advocacy organizations in the United States.
Colleen is also well known and respected for her years of work in women?s issues and progressive advocacy communications having held senior communications posts with the Feminist Majority Foundation, the National Organization for Women and the Humane Society of the United States/Humane Society International.

Erica Gloger provides sophisticated estate planning services to a wide range of individuals and couples living in the DC metropolitan area. She is a 2003 graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University, where she served as a research assistant to Professor Melanie B. Leslie in the area of estate planning for GLBT individuals and couples. Ms. Gloger contributes her time pro bono at several not-for profit organizations, including the Whitman Walker Clinic.
Lars Etzkorn speaks on Estate Planning, including having the Federal Government’s Office of Personal recognize same-sex common law marriage consummated before United States v. Lars’ legal practice focuses on estate planning and administration, charitable giving and nonprofit governance. He works with individuals, couples (married and unmarried) and families, and with local and national cultural, education and health organizations. Active in civic life, Lars was the founding Treasurer of The DC Center.
Guy-Oreido Weston has worked full-time in HIV/AIDS programs since1986. At present, he is a consultant in private practice that assists community-based organizations with developing and evaluating organizational infrastructure and programs. He is also a writer of essays, op-ed, and short stories about HIV and LGBT issues, whose work appeared the Philadelphia Gay News, Arise Magazine, and the Washington Informer, among others. As a speaker and workshop facilitator, he has presented on a broad array of topics, including, but not limited to various HIV/AIDS issues, cultural competency, HIV and LGBT issues with faith communities, community mobilization, and community planning.
Sean Bugg is co-publisher and editorial director of Metro Weekly, Washington, D.C.’s gay and lesbian news magazine. A founding writer for the 14-year-old publication, Bugg took the editorial helm in 2000. During his tenure, Metro Weekly has grown into a major voice for the LGBT community, winning numerous awards for writing, design and community service. In addition to his journalism career, Bugg has worked in social marketing and HIV prevention programs for the Whitman-Walker Clinic and the National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors. A member of the D.C. chapter of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association, Bugg received his journalism degree in 1989 from Washington & Lee University in Virginia.
Alexandra Chandler is a transgender woman serving openly as a senior analyst and leader within the Intelligence Community. Alexandra is also an advocate for equality for LGBT people, especially transgender youth, immigrants and people of color. She enjoys providing her perspective on leadership and communication as a woman and a LGBT person, mentoring younger LGBT and national security audiences, and discussing domestic policy challenges including education, healthcare reform, and income inequality. She has presented on leadership, career development, LGBT and transgender issues in numerous Intelligence Community forums, the Rainbow Families conference, Columbia University SIPA, Rutgers University, Yale University, and Capital Trans Pride. She has also published in the Washington Post and appeared on NPR’s Weekend Edition.
Alexandra led the Intelligence Community’s analytic effort against the maritime proliferation of WMD and arms smuggling from 2011-2016. Inspired by living in NYC as a law student through the 9/11 attacks, Alexandra started her career as an intelligence analyst in 2004. In 2006 she was the first employee ever to complete a gender transition while working at the Office of Naval Intelligence. Alexandra came out to the general public in February 2017, in which she used her story as a call to Americans to reject the fear and hate on the rise in society since the 2016 election. She is a member of the Intelligence Community LGBT Pride employee resource group, a member of the Truman National Security Project Defense Council, and the Vice President of her child’s school PTA. From 2008 – 2013, she served on the Board of Directors of Whitman Walker Health, including as Vice Chair, and helped guide the organization to sustainability and Federally Qualified Health Center status as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee. Alexandra graduated from Brown University in 1999 with a B.A. in International Relations, and from Brooklyn Law School in 2002. She is married to Catherine, her high school sweetheart and partner of 22 years, and they have two children.
Mr. Marengo is a graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Metropolitan Studies with concentrations in Criminology and Substance Abuse. Mr. Marengo?s work in state politics brough him to DC where he worked on and off the hill. Shortly after the 2000 elections, Mr. Marengo began working for a wide range of non-profits and associations in the areas of data management and event planning/development.
Kevin Nunley serves as the Senior Director for Internships and Student Services at The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. He has spent over 15 years in the Higher Education arena working with college students in advising and counseling roles. His areas of emphasis are on GLBT Identity Development, Coming Out Process, Leadership Development, and other topics of Diversity.
