The Chesapeake and Potomac Softball League (CAPS) was founded in 1983 to establish a friendly place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (G/L/B/T) people in the greater Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area to go to play softball, learn and/or enhance softball skills, and meet new people.

The Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association (ASGRA) is a charitable and social organizatino whose primary purpose is to promote the sport of rodeo and foster country and western lifestyles in the gay and lesbian community. ASGRA members enjoy the fellowship of numerous social, recreational and educational activities. The Capital Area Rainbowlers Association (CARA) is a member-supported organization composed of gay and lesbian bowling leagues in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. CARA serves to promote the sport of bowling in the national capital area’s LGBT community.
The Washington Wetskins is the longest continuously operating water polo team in the US to openly welcome individuals who identify as gay, straight or bisexual. The team welcomes both men and women.
