We began as the DC Area Feminist Chorus, were known as Bread and Roses Feminist Singers from 1983 to the fall of 2009, and became Fortissima in October 2009. We have the same committment to music and social justice regardless of the name. We are open to all sopranos and altos, regardless of gender, and without audition.

The Mayor’s Office of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Affairs provides constituent services and information to the GLBT communities through community outreach, public education activities and advises the Mayor and the DC Government on the needs of the GLBT residents of the District of Columbia through technical assistance and training.
