Helping Each Other Heal: LGBT Veterans' Health | OUT FRONT

Today we celebrate our vets who have placed their lives on the line to protect the homeland. To show your respect, you can post images of our LGBT+ heroes on your social media pages. We would also like to take a look at how the current administrations policies may affect future LGBT heroes from joining the our military. The Trump administration stated that transgendered people with gender dysphoria — that is, who feel their emotional and psychological identity to be the opposite of their biological sex — will be disqualified from military service, except in specific circumstances. The White House said retaining troops with a history or diagnosis of “gender dysphoria” — those who may require substantial medical treatment — “presents considerable risk to military effectiveness and lethality.”
