In conjunction with The Second City’s She the People, Woolly Mammoth presents a special reading of For Black Trans Girls Who Gotta Cuss A Mother Fucker Out When Snatching An Edge Ain’t Enough: A Choreo Poem by DC-based playwright and performer Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi on Monday, December 10 at 7:30 pm. The reading will be directed by Paige Hernandez, and will take place in the Woolly Mammoth theatre space.

Inspired by Ntozake Shange’s iconic 1975 choreopoem, for colored girls who considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, Edidi describes the piece as, “a celebration of Trans Women, Goddesshood, a lament for our fallen, a sword for our living and a challenge to white supremacy, structural oppression and any who would dare try to erase us from existence.”

The reading will be followed by a discussion with playwright Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi, led by dramaturg Venus Selenite.
