The hearing date is set! H.R. 51, the DC Statehood Bill, will have a hearing in the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on September 19, 2019! It’s time to make history and everyone who supports DC Statehood should be there!
Statehood has always been an LGBTQ Issue! It was an issue when Congress blocked needle exchange and medical marijuana in the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It is an issue today as we continue to worry about Congressional interference when we pass LGBTQ legislation in the DC Council like the LGBT Older Americans and Older People with HIV Act, or the Gay and Trans Panic Defense Bill.
We deserve a vote and a voice, and we should be able to act in the best interest of our local LGBTQ community WITHOUT congressional interference. Join us!
